We gave Gilmore girls a fitting send off last night, by gathering together and filling my coffee table with snacks. We figured it was appropriate. It was a great idea to watch the first episode before the finale, since they did some things that were really nice shout-outs to long time fans, like the Christiane Amanpour cameo, and the final shot of the girls in the diner, which is the same way the first episode ended.
Here is my POV from the couch during the pilot episode, before we dug into snacks. I'm especially proud of the Pringles in the margarita glass.
So, I love fall. You know what I don't love? People who dont like TV. If you don't want to watch it, fine, but don't tell me it's rotting my brain (or rather, imply that it is, when they say something like "I don't watch TV because it rots my brain"). My brain is fine, thanks. Your brain seems to need to lighten up. Might I suggest a few episodes of The Office?
With fall, comes a whole lot of new TV goodness. Albert, my Tivo, is going to be very busy. Here is what he will be recording:
- Gilmore girls: natch.
- LOST: This season is supposed to be all about The Others, the way last season was about the hatch.
- Veronica Mars: LOVE this show. If you aren't watching it, what is wrong with you?
- Grey's Anatomy: I'm hooked! I knew those panties were going to resurface, I was worried about it all summer.
- Survivor: Cook Islands. I haven't missed an episode of Survivor since it started, but I am starting to lose interest. We'll see if it stays up this high up in the Season Pass Manager.
- Desperate Housewives: I love that my parents got so into this show. Last season wasn't as good, but hopefully with the addition of creepy Kyle McLachlan, this year will be better.
- House: It'll be on opposite Gilmore girls, so I'm hoping to catch it when Gg is a rerun. Too bad, since it's one of my favorites.
- Kidnapped: This is one of the new shows that looks pretty good, so I'm gonna give it a try.
- CSI:NY: Hopefully I will catch some episodes of this when Kidnapped is a rerun. Incidentally, what is up with all the CSIs getting so much action lately? First Sarah and Grissom in at the end of last season, and now Det. Taylor has a girlfriend? Are they trying to spice it up to compete with newer shows like Grey's Anatomy? Will we soon be seeing Grey's Anatomy style hook-ups in forensic-supply closets and dark corners of the morgue?
- The Office: I'll probably only catch reruns, but I've got to buy tonight's episode from iTunes so I can find out what happens!
- My Name is Earl: Another one for reruns. It's funny, but I can wait.
- CSI: This is one for reruns, too, although if ABC keeps rerunning Grey's Anatomy on Fridays, I can still Tivo the new CSIs.
- Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: I liked The West Wing fine, but I LOVED Sports Night. I'm hoping since this is also an Aaron Sorkin show about TV behind-the-scenes, it will be similar. I watched the first episode and am not hooked yet. We'll see.
- Heroes: It could be pretty dumb, but I'll give it a try, especially since it has Greg Grunberg. It's not up against anything else I want to watch.
- Criminal Minds: Up against LOST, so I'll just get an occasional rerun. Most of the episodes are stand-alone, so that's fine.
- Six Degrees: Another one that I will give a try, since it's not up against anything else I want to watch. I am distracted by Erika Christensen''s bad bleach job in the promos, though.
- Ugly Betty: This could be the show that knocks Survivor down my priorty list. We'll see. ABC Family is rerunning some episodes on Fridays, so I'll be able to compare and decide.
- Project Runway: I don't feel as compelled to watch now that Kayne's gone, but I'm still rooting for Michael.
It's a far cry from the days when I only watched Gilmore girls and Survivor faithfully!
