The Whistling Season
This book was just a nice little charming story about a homesteading family and one-room school in Montana. It actually reminded me a lot of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, with the descriptions of all the different schoolyard personalities.
There's a surprise ending and for a page or so I thought that it was going to ruin the book for me, but it didn't go where an anticipated and ended up being okay.
